Adrienne Albert will return to Alaska and the Kenai Peninsula to continue
her "reconnaissance missions" and learn more about the life, land, and
people of this area. In the cold, dark days of January, Adrienne will be
visiting Russian villages and spending the Russian Orthodox Christmas with
the Sukgiats in Nanwalek. Other activities will include working with the
high school and community college choirs in both Homer and Kenai in
preparation for composing the final movement of her work for choir and
orchestra as well as preparing the Homer choirs on her choral work, "Weaver
of Dreams" which they will perform in Italy in April. Dog Sledding and
visiting oil rigs are also on the schedule. This is all part of a generous
grant from the NEA and the American Composers Forum for their Continental
Harmony project for Alaska.

Sacramento on Thursday and Friday, May 5 and 6. Along with
Lynn Job, Adrienne will have several of her works performed
for Lifting the Veil IV in concert on May 6 at 7:30
PM. with
Q & A at 7:00, Capistrano Hall. This is a benefit event for
women's charities. Albert and Job will be in residence May
5 with the CSUS Department of Composition. Please drop by

Composer tries to capture Kachemak essence

HOMER, Alaska -- Adrienne Albert has been hiking on a glacier, blueberry
picking in Nanwalek, setnet fishing, sightseeing by plane, seining and
four-wheeling. She's talked to homesteaders, youth and locals from all walks
of life, slept on a dripping bathtub and used an outhouse. She was even
going to tour an oil rig in Cook Inlet until weather got in the way.
An overachiever tourist? No, Albert is actually a composer who is immersing
herself in everything Homer so she can turn it into music.
A California-based musician and composer, Albert is working on a grant
provided by the American Composers Forum and NEA for their Continental
Harmony Project, an organization aimed at bringing composers and communities
together to create music that reflects local history and culture...

Festival of New American Music
Adrienne has been invited to be a Visiting Composer at Cal
State University in Sacramento at 4:00pm, Capstrano Hall, M205. She will speak on her experiences and background as a musician and composer. She will be a Featured
Composer at the FeNAM Ensemble Concert in the Music Recital
Hall at 8:00pm. Her work, "Fantasia", for clarinet
and piano will be featured on the program. Please come say hello if you are

 Adrienne's
New Work Animalogy Premieres at the Pratt Museum
in June
Adrienne
will be in Alaska from June 10th to June 17th for
the Premiere of her new work, ANIMALOGY (n.) at the Pratt
Museum in Homer, Alaska on June 16th. This work will be premiered
out of doors at the Pratt Museum in the Kenai
Peninsula as part of her
NEA grant for the Continental
Harmony Project for Alaska.
The Pratt Museum will
be
opening their exhibit of "Facing The
Elements". It should be a wonderful event coinciding (almost!) with the
summer solstice. The Premiere will take place in the woods in an amphitheatre
behind the museum. The musicians will come out from behind the trees
playing
their
instruments and find their way to the stage. Expect 19 hours of daylight
in this region of the world with many exciting events taking place around

"Blowing winds and other elements at the Pratt":...
Adrienne Albert will present her newest woodwind quintet, ?Animalogy? ? a piece she
conjured through local flora and fauna.
?It was inspired by Gull Island, and all the experiences she had with wildlife,? said Laura
Norton, production manager for the Kenai Peninsula Orchestra.
According to Norton, ?Animalogy? is the second movement of a three-part production,
and has a ?light and playful? feel.
The first of Albert?s work will use a symphonic orchestra to create a heavy, ?Earth-forming? kind
of affair. The last part will use a full orchestra and choir, invoking what Albert
calls an ?Ode to Joy.?
The musicians in the quintet have been practicing for more than a month, and
will be completing the final rehearsals in Anchorage over the weekend. The show
starts on June 16 at 7 p.m. in the forest amphitheater

Adrienne to be Composer-In-Residence at the Pennsylvania Academy of Music beginning
June 19, 2006
Adrienne will leave right after the Premiere of Animalogy to fly from
Anchorage to Lancaster, PA to be Composer-In-Residence for three days
at the Pennsylvania Academy of
Music. An evening of her music will take
place at Franklin and Marshall
College Chapel on
Monday, June 19th. Performers will include the wonderful Newstead
Trio and
several local musicians performing her chamber works including a performance
of Animalogy (n.) which will just have been premiered in Alaska a few
days
before. Adrienne will speak at a round table discussion on Creativity
in the afternoon and talk about her works before the performance in the
evening.
